The Herald, May 4, 2017

Dorothy Strom Burkett (1925 - 2017)

Our dear Dorothy passed away March 27, 2017, at the age of 92.  Born January 13, 1925, to Carl and Elsa Strom, she was raised in the Wagner Woods Creek area of Monroe, WA, graduated from MHS in 1942 and went to Seattle, WA, with her best friend, Karin Carlson for a job with the Corps of Engineers.  There she met her husband, Lester.  She and Les lived in E. Washington, Montana and finally Lynnwood, WA, in the pursuit of his career.  They made many lifelong friends and had retirement fun in their trailer going to Ocean Park, Hoods Canal and Sequim, WA, for salmon fishing, crabbing, clamming and socializing.  Dorothy had a smile and a greeting for all.  She loved people; never had a bad word to say about anyone and was proud of her Swedish heritage.  She attended her first Midsommar at Vasa Park in 1925 and her last in 2016!  Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Elsa, husband of 65 years, Les; siblings, Gib Strom and Shirley Thompson and daughter-in-law, Roberta Burkett.  She is survived by children, Steve and Connie; grand-children, Shawna, Courtney, Carla and Dan, seven great and two great great grandchildren.  Also survived by her siblings, Fred Strom, Mary C. Olson, Betty Danielson, Sandra Mannick, cousin, Margaret Strindberg and many nephews, nieces and friends as well as cousins in Sweden and Canada.  We all love you Dorothy and miss you so much.  "Till We Meet Again" Interment will take place May 14, 2017, 1 p.m. at Monroe I00F Cemetery.
