Bill R. Anderson

Bill R. Anderson, age 51, of Bastrop, Texas, died Friday, March 13, 2003.  He was born May 21, 1951, to Frank Dillon Anderson and Minnie Louise (Steelman) Anderson.  Bill spent his life in service to his neighbors as a peace officer.  He served 27 years in the Odessa Police Department and then served in Brady, Texas, and later in Bastrop as Chief of Police.  He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Bastrop and served as a Deacon there.  Even though he was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, the Ascension Catholic Church has graciously allowed the use of their church for funeral services to better accommodate the expected large attendance.  Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday, at Marrs- Jones-Newby Funeral Home in Bastrop, with the family receiving guests there from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the evening.  Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. to Noon.  Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 18, 2003, at Ascension Catholic Church.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Bastrop.  Survivors include his wife, Claudia Anderson of Bastrop; daughters, Heather Anderson Lovett and Corrie Thompson, both of Odessa; sons, Christopher Cook of Baton Rouge, LA, and Chad Cook of Dallas; his mother, Louise Anderson of Odessa; a brother, Dennis Anderson of Lago Vista, TX; a sister, Carol Watson of Odessa; and grandchildren, Kodie Caswell, Anita Thompson, Dalton Cook, Dillon Thompson, and Taylor Cook.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Sweet Spirit Senior Ministry of Calvary Baptist Church, Bastrop, or to Odyssey Hospice of La Grange, Texas.  Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home, Bastrop, TX
